The new Calabar field operations controller for the Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ene-Ita George has paid a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP, Sikuru Akande in his office in Calabar.
The visit, according to Mr. Ene-Ita was to "familiarize with the state police command, having just recently resumed in the state as well as to firm up the relationship that exist between the department and the police"
He said since the sector was very crucial to the economic survival of the country, it was necessary for DPR to explore ways of working together to ensure peace in that sector of the economy.
Responding, CP Akande who said he was excited by the visit assured the new Calabar filed operations controller of police cooperation and support in tackling any form of security challenges faced by operators in the oil and gas sector. He expressed concerns by some people that the state was no longer as peaceful as it used to be, assuring that he was determined to work hard to bring back the peace the state is known for.
Highlights of the visit was the exchange of gifts by the police commissioner and the operations controller.
