The Cross River State police command has regretted and condemned the unfortunate attack on policemen by some unknown, the incident which occurred at two checkpoints in Obubra Local Government Area in the early hours of Wednesday, 3rd March 2021.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Cross River State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo on 3rd March, 2021
According to the police command, the report making rounds which states that six police men were killed in the said attack is false and should be disregarded by the public.
Meanwhile, the Police Command has revealed that only two police officers lost their lives during the attack.
“The press statement is hereby issued to clear the air that two policemen lost their lives, one injured and responding to treatment” He said.
The commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande has called on everyone to remain call and promised that relentless efforts are being made to get to the root of the matter.
He further advised residents to understand that security is a collective work by always disseminating genuine information to the police.
Recall that recently police officers were attacked along Idundu road, Calabar and some police officers killed. It is pertinent that every meaningful Cross Riverian remain alert security wise.
Meanwhile, the police command has promised to make Cross River State peaceful for all by confronting the security threats in the state.
