Usani who shared his mind with a reporter in a chat at his
residence in Calabar, expressed confidence in the governor's ability to harness
available potentials within the party for it's overall success as the 2023
elections approaches.
"We received from the governor promises of transparency
and inclusiveness. This, therefore has given the party a new face in the state.
As the leader of the party and that of government in the state which are two
enormous responsibilities, I believe that the governor will leverage on the
goodwill and support of all party members across the state to grow a stronger
and better APC in the state.
"Most crucially, we in APC before this time had
tendency that did not promote the ethic of order in terms of leadership but his
coming has resolved the issue of leadership naturally, once and for all. We
watch to see if we will withdraw from those tendencies and support him to
deliver on good governance. It therefore means, we should be able to prune
every form of resistance and frustration that will negatively affect him from
delivering on good governance.
For me, when I submit, I do that completely, that is my commitment. So for those of us who
have agreed to work together for the party in the state, let's do that in good
in truth.
The former minister also cleared the air over his
disagreement with the Sen. John Owan Enoh during the buildup to 2019 saying his
disagreement was in principle and not personal.
Pictures showing Mr. Usani and Sen. Enoh laughing and
hugging themselves during a meeting called by Gov Ben Ayade went viral Sunday
evening, causing wild jubilation among APC faithfuls in the state. Many believe
that the reconciliation by the duo have put an end to the bitter rivalry that
existed within the party in the state.
On of all factions within the APC, the future of the party looks bright as they
get ready to dislodge the People's Democratic Party after over two decades of
political dominance in the state
