The Edo State Police Command has been urged by the family of a woman, Ugieki Asemota to prosecute her husband, Emmanuel, for allegedly beating her to death for refusing him S3xual Intercourse.
According to sources, the couple had a sharp argument on Monday 28th June, 2021 at their residence in Abaegbe street, Evbotubu area of Benin.
According to our aource, in order to avoiding more issues with her husband, Ugieki went into her room and locked the door.
Moreover, Emmanuel, who persisted on entering the room with her, allegedly tried to break the door with an axe.
Ugieki who attempted to run away through the window was restricted by her husband and beaten her to a coma.
While speaking to our correspondent, the twin sister of the victim, Victoria Omoruyi revealed that two hospitals rejected Ugieki before she was admitted to the third hospital she was rushed to.
Also noting that her sister's marriage with the suspect has been full of violence and known little or no peace.
“They had been having issues before that day and the man was always beating her. But on that night, he wanted to have sex with her and my sister said he should go to his room because she was not ready for his trouble." She said.
She also said, “They quarrelled that day and my sister managed it till the evening of the following day. When it became intense, she entered her room and locked the door to avoid any trouble with him. But around midnight, he came banging the door with an axe and asking my sister to open the door that he wanted to sleep with her."
“My sister told him to go to his room and leave her alone, but he kept banging and when my sister saw that if he should meet her in the room with the way he was banging the door, he would kill her, so she tried to escape through the window. Unknown to her, her husband heard when she tried to sneak out through the window." She said.
Confirming the incident, The state Police Public Relations Officer, Kontongs Bello, said that the couple got married in 2002 and had two boys together before her demise.
"The woman denied him s3x and he beat her to a coma." He said. adding that the suspect will be charged to court when the police has finished their preliminary investigation.
