20, 344 Cross Riverians to benefit from HUP-CCT Federal government programme, 605 in Odukpani LGA benefits

 



The Cross State Ministry of Humanity and Social Welfare services in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has  commenced the disbursement of cash to beneficiaries of the Household Uplifting Programme - Conditional Cash Transfer (HUP-CCT) in the state.


This is in line with the vision of His Excellency Senator Prof Benedict Ayade which is to cater for the welfare of Cross Riverians,


The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare Services, Hon. Blessing Egbara kicked started the exercise on Monday at Odukpani LGA, witnessed over 600 Household benefited  from the exercise. 


During the exercise some beneficiaries under the base transfer went home with N30,000 while others under the Topup transfer went home with 40,000 naira each.


Speaking during the disbursement exercise, The Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare services Honorable Mrs Blessing Egbara, disclosed that the exercise is one of many good things Senator Prof Benedict Ayade has attracted to the state for the benefit of the people. 


Hon. Egbara further disclosed that the CCT program has two types of transfer, comprise of the base Transfer which is for all Beneficiaries and secondly the Top up Transfer which is basically for households with Pregnant mothers, children under 5 and lactating mothers. 


"We can all see the Vision of Governor Ben Ayade gradually falling into place, today we are seeing Cross River State Benefit massively from Federal Government Humanitarian programmes. 


I also want to highly commend His Excellency President Mohammed Buhari for this Initiative, indeed Millions of household will be touched, not just in Cross River state but all over Nigeria..... "


Mrs Egbara also Lauded the efforts of the Honorable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar for her role in ensuring these Programs are well carried out, referring to her as a woman with a Big heart for Humanity.


"This is a very sensitive Ministry and there could be no other person fit enough to lead this Ministry other than The Honorable Minister, she has shown Nigerians what a great mother she is, I really Commend her for all that she is doing" Mrs Egbara Maintained. 


The Honorable Commissioner also revealed that the Payment Exercise is done in 3 LGAs, one Local government per Senatorial district every day, and hopes to complete the exercise by next week.


One of the Beneficiaries Mrs Ekanem Okon applauded the efforts of the Federal Government in puting in place this program to touch the lives of the poor and Vulnerable people, and also Thanked Governor Ben Ayade who has ensured that the  people of Cross River State are not left out from the National Cake.


"God will Bless President Mohammed Buhari for me, this Program has Blessed me so much, I received 30,000 naira today and I want to say thank You, I will use this money and invest in Palm oil business so that I can generate more money to further take care of my Family.


I have been hearing of programs like this in other states and i started to doubt if its real, but today I am a Beneficiary God Bless Governor Ben Ayade for bringing this opportunity down to us in Cross River State.
