CHRISTMAS: Jesus The Life Giver - Rev. Innocent Nwobiri
TEXT: JN.10:10; 1 COR.15:45-49.
Before Christ came, man was in a perishing state according to (John 3:16) because the coming of sin had brought dearth upon the entire human race ( 1COR.15: 22)
This is why man's greatest enemy today is neither food nor finance but sin.
To address the sin question, God sent His Son as a quickening or life - giving Spirit.The Bible says," And so it is written,The first man Adam was made a living soul; The last Adam was made a quickening spirit" (1 Cor.15:45)

No wonder everything He touched received life and we hail from Him.
Today by his Spirit we have life in abundance.(Jn.10:10)
For it is the spirit that quickeneth; The flesh profiteth nothing...(Jn.6:63)
HOW DOES THE SPIRIT QUICKEN US WITH NEW LIFE?
The Spirit quickens us with new life through the word of God.In psalm 119:25, the Psalmist said" My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to your word.

Please understand that:
1) God's word is the seed of the new life in our souls that makes us alive to God (2 Peter 1:4, 1 John 3:9.
2. God's word is the force that sets us free from bondage and captivity to sin and satan. For it is written,"There's therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,Who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit.For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2).
3. Through God's Word the Holy Spirit instructs us and shows us the way of God. (Isaiah 30:21; Matthew 2:12, 13) Today,May your ears be open to hear God as you celebrate Christmas.Herod's plan never worked out because the wise men were instructed by God not to return to Him. (Verse13). This shows that you can't encounter Jesus and still go the same way.For it is written "Therefore,If any man be in Christ he is a new creature: Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new".(2Cor.5:17)
4. The word of God draws us away from worldly living and sets our mind on things above. We are in the world but not of the world. Jesus the Son of God came as the son of man so that the sons of men can become the sons of God. That still holds. Colossians 3:2-3. If you were a notorious armed rubber, now that you are born again, you ought to be a good and committed believer. For it is written"And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly" (1 Cor.15:49). The problem we have today is that there is no difference between a believer and an unbeliever because there is no way we can be alive to God until we are dead to sin. That is the life - To be dead to sin and alive to God.
