A former Head of State, Chief Ernest Shonekan has
died.
Chief Ernest Shonekan who was head of the Interim
National Government that took over the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida died
in Lagos at the age of 85.

Shonekan was the temporary head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17 1993 when he was overthrown in a coup that was led by late General Sani Abacha.
He was also the Chairman of UAC Conglomerate for
several years.
