Obubra Communities And Groups Rally Supports For Sen. Gershom Bassey's 2023 Gubernatorial Race

Cross River State People's Democratic Party (PDP) Frontline Governorship Aspirant and senator representing the good people of the Southern Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Gershom Henry Bassey has restated his determination to transform the state if elected as Governor come 2023. 


Senator Gershom made this statement when he visited the people of  Obubra Local Government Area to consult Traditional leaders, Party leaders, Civil societies and various community leaders while  declaring his aspiration to run for Governorship come 2023.

The Senator who presented his scorecard of Six years at the Red Chambers, also presented his blueprint for Cross Riverians if elected as the Governor of Cross River State that he will address critical sectors of the economy including health care, infrastructure, unemployment, education, security, tourism and empowerment.




The Senator urged the people to secure their voter cards and be determined of the future of Cross River State in 2023 general elections.


The Achievements of Gershom as Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial Districts was readout by Barr. Patricia Endeley Inyang, who once served as commissioner of Ministry of Social Welfare and Development in Cross River State. Some of these achievements include sponsoring of twenty eight effective bills with quarterly disbursement of grants and scholarships to Cross Riverians across the three Senatorial Districts of the state among others.


Speaking on behalf of the people of Obubra, Chief Barr. Sylvanus Odong said Obubra is a mother Local Government Area in the Central and has been very active in the politics of the state. He maintained that Senator Gershom  has been behind the development and growth of the state since 1999 and as such is the best man for the Peregrino house come 2023.


On the protracted debate about zoning, Barr. Odong maintained that apart from enthroning peace and progress, zoning is a natural law in the eye of fairness, equity and justice. He urged the people of Central to align with the "BACK TO SOUTH" agenda for equity sake as well as support the Governorship ambition of Senator Gershom Bassey come 2023. 


In his remark, former chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa described Senator Bassey as a marketable material for the party coming from a strong political and administrative background. He said the Lawmaker who is popularly known as the "Eagle" of Cross River State is the right man to transform the state without iota of fear.


Also speaking, the chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter, Comr. Dan Obo  revealed that since 1999 the People's Democratic Party, PDP has never failed Obubra and that Senator Gershom Bassey should not forget the people of the LGA when he ascends the exalted office of Governor in 2023. He assured the Senator of the support of the Obubra people, while appealing to him to prioritize youths inclusiveness in his administration.




The chapter women leader of the People's Democratic Party in Obubra Local Government Area, Mrs Felicia Bassey welcomed the Senator and his entourage to Obubra while conveying the support of the people to him. She further appealed that women should be carried along in his triumphal  entry into Peregrino house as Governor of paradise nation in Cross River State.


The colourful event which took the face of Calabar carnival, drew a lot of attention as Senator Gershom presented cash in cheques worth over Ten millions naira to individuals for empowerment and New Year celebration.
