FRSC blames over speeding and poor visibility as three die in fatal road crash



 A fatal crash along the Eleme-Oyigbo Road in Rivers State has claimed the lives of three male adults.

Sources learnt that the crash, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a Mercedez Benz 911 truck, occurred around 6.35 am on Wednesday.


A resident, who identified himself as ThankGod, said that the bus rammed into the stationary truck, which had developed a fault and was parked two days earlier.


“There was blood all over the road. I saw policemen attending to the victims and making phone calls probably to reach out to their families,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps attributed the crash to speeding and poor visibility.

While confirming the incident, the Head of Operations, FRSC, Rivers State Command, Chukwuma Mbaegbu, said, “Yes, it happened early this morning (Wednesday). Five male adults were involved. Three died and two were injured.


“The cause of the crash was speeding and poor visibility. The injured victims were taken to the military hospital in Port Harcourt.


“The dead victims were taken to the Resurrection Hope Mortuary, Oyigbo, Rivers State.”
