EASTER: Sen. Gershom Bassey Felicitates With Christians, Urges Peace, Faith, Hope For A Great CRS

Easter Felicitations

I felicitate with all Cross Riverians and especially our Christian brothers and sisters who are celebrating Easter in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As we join Christians all over the world to celebrate Easter this year, I urge all Cross Riverians to reflect on the import of its lessons of piety, self-sacrifice for the good of others, redemption, salvation, deliverance, renewal, obedience to higher authorities, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

These Easter lessons and other injunctions on peaceful co-existence, brotherly love, tolerance, honesty, humility, justice, equity and fairness to everyone without discrimination written in the Gospels are of particular importance to us as a state as we continue to contend with the challenges of Statehood.

Let us as a state derive spiritual inspiration in the promise of the resurrection and brace ourselves against that which has inhibited equal opportunity and restore equity, justice, peace and prosperity to our dear State.

This year’s Easter celebrations are taking place at a critical time in our political life when the country is preparing itself for another general election in 2023. Thus, let us at this time reflect on the enormous progress we have made as a state over the years and strive to ensure that the gains made over the years are not squandered by those with the unpatriotic and antithetical predispositions.

Since Easter signals a season of renewal, of change, of moving ahead. It is time for a change, and in 2023 Cross Riverians will have a chance to vote for change.

As we celebrate this year's Easter let us recommit ourselves to do all we can to help our beloved state to soar to even greater heights in the true spirit of Easter.
