Generally, giving comes with benefits. In society, a lot of persons get involved in different transactions, which is birthed with the mindset of getting profits. Now, if we as humans are very considerate of how much we invest in various businesses and likewise trust the persons we are contracting with; If we can trust unknown people, how much more God? Don't forget He is the sole creator of wealth and riches. No wonder He admonished in His word "that givers never lack".
No matter what you accumulate while living, you will die someday. When you die, you will go with nothing. Solomon looked at the worthlessness of wealth and riches and he came to the irresistible conclusion that ‘vanity upon vanity, all is vanity. If the wisest man who ever lived with the accumulation of wealth that was within his possession could make a sure statement, it presupposes that there's more to just making wealth and being in possession of riches.
Jesus illustrated the effectiveness of giving when He considered the giving done by the poor widow. It was recorded by the Holy scriptures that Among the several persons who gave on that day, the poor widow who gave her last might was considered the greatest giver on that occasion. She gave her all and it was considered the greatest because giving isn't premised on ' how much you gave' but on 'How much is left." She actually gave her all.
Dorcas was a giver who was recognized as one of the greatest givers in the Bible. As a matter of fact, when Dorcas died, peter brought a petition before God stating his grounds as to why Dorcas cant die now. Her sacrificial giving was one of the major grounds why God had to bring her back to life. So, as believers, we don’t only profess faith with the words of our mouth but by the practical demonstration of our faith (giving).
Whoever professes Christ and finds it difficult to give for his work isn't worthy to be called a faithful servant. It was recorded in the book of John 3:16 ' that for God so loved the world that He 'gave'' His only begotten son and that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
God "gave' because he loved us and He didn't only give anything but gave His only begotten Son and it was really costly. If we must be true disciples, we must imbibe the spirit of giving and it should be something that will cost us.
