Plateau United duo, Jesse Akila and Nenrot Silas are confident they can still catch up with leaders, Rivers United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Rivers United have opened a 10-point lead at the top of the log, with five games remaining before the end of the campaign.
The Stanley Eguma’s side needs six points to be crowned NPFL champions for the first time.
Akila and Silas, however, believe the title chase isn’t over despite the huge gap between them and the Port Harcourt Dwellers.
“We haven’t given up yet because mathematically we still have hope because I learnt Rivers have two away games,” Akila who has scored eight goals for Plateau United this season told npfl.ng
“We are hoping they drop points there, and then we see how it goes, but be rest assured that we are still fighting.”
Akila’s view was corroborated by Silas, who insisted that it isn’t over until it is over.
“It is football, it is never over until it is over. There is always a chance, and that is what I believe.
“Despite how the table looks at the moment, we at Plateau United will continue to believe it is doable as we are still fighting for the title,” Silas added.
Plateau United will host Gombe United on Sunday, while Rivers United are away to Enugu Rangers.
