An Ondo state-based chef, Adeola Adeyeye, has begun a 150-hour culinary challenge to break a new Guinness World Record in a cooking marathon.
The 26-year-old chef also known as Chef Deo was said to have commenced her cooking marathon challenge on June 30, 2023, in Ile-Oluji, headquarters of the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Council of Ondo State, with the exercise slated to be concluded on July 6, 2023.
Speaking on the development, the manager of the chef, Mr Ayotunde Fagbamiye, said he is optimistic Chef Deo will break the record for the longest cooking marathon.
Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
Mr Fagbamiye disclosed that following a thorough review and assessment, GWR had acknowledged her request and gave her the go-ahead to proceed with the record attempt.
According to Fagbamiye, Chef Deo was optimistic and fully committed to completing the task and becoming the new record holder of the cook-a-thon.
He said: “She got the approval to embark on the cook-a-thon from Guinness World Records. We were very happy when we received the mail that she could proceed to break the record for a cooking marathon for an individual person.
“She is energetic; she is ready to cook for 150 hours. She is passionate about it and determined. I’m very sure she will make it to the end successfully.”
Meanwhile, food enthusiasts, fellow chefs, and media outlets have flocked to the venue of the cook-a-thon in the Ile Oluji community of Ondo State to witness the record-breaking event.
