TETFund Plans to Establish 24 Skills Centers Nationwide

The Federal Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has revealed its intention to set up more than 24 skills and innovation centers across Nigeria.

Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, made this announcement during a visit to Innov8 Hub in Abuja, accompanied by key stakeholders, including the Executive Secretary of TETfund, Sonny Echono, according to a statement from the Fund on Wednesday.

Innov8 Hub serves as a focal point for Innovation Start-up Incubation, Technology Transfer, Knowledge & Skill Impartation, Prototype Development, and Fabrication.

TETFund is currently collaborating with Innov8 Hub to provide practical training and mentorship for Nigerian youths and academics, aiming to produce employable graduates and enhance research.

During the visit, Mamman stated that establishing 24 skills centers nationwide was to ensure equal opportunities for all Nigerians, regardless of their location.

He commended TETfund and the Innov8 hub for providing learners and researchers from Colleges of Education, Polytechnics, and Universities with a platform for practical and impactful research.

Mamman expressed optimism about the potential of Innov8 Hub to propel Nigeria to greater heights, providing hope and skills to young individuals seeking decent livelihoods.

He also emphasized the need for collaboration between researchers and industries, promising government support to bridge this gap.

Mamman pledged to advocate for the involvement of big entrepreneurs and relevant ministry officials to witness the impact of Innov8 Hub and to ensure that young Nigerians, including those from IDP camps, receive necessary training and skills.
