Wike to Senator Kingibe: "You Will Lose in 2027"

Ezenwo Nyesom Wike

On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, criticized Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe, who represents the FCT, suggesting she would lose public support in the next election.

During the launch of the Mabushi Bus Terminal in Abuja, Wike expressed his disappointment that instead of cooperating with the FCT Administration, Kingibe was upset that residents were praising President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Wike commented, “I heard someone on Arise TV this morning, and it’s unfortunate to learn it was a National Assembly member. With all due respect, if you don’t know something, admit it so people can educate you.

“The Honourable Minister of State and I have been in office for less than 11 months, and yet, this person is upset that people are praising us. If you’re unhappy about it, deal with it. If we’ve done well, we’ve done well. If not, then not. I’m proud of our achievements since the President appointed us.

“You claim there are no hospitals. As a legislator, what have you done? How many bills have you sponsored to improve our education and health sectors?

“I challenge this legislator: if you’re truly popular, run in 2027. We’ll see if you succeed. What happened last time won’t happen again. This is my territory now, and I’m not afraid.

“People should accept the truth. We’re not begging for anyone’s friendship; we have plenty. If you’re upset about the praise we’re receiving, your blood pressure will only rise next year because the praise will increase.”

Kingibe had criticized Wike's administration on the television program, stating she is not a friend of the minister.
