The 2024 edition of the Cross River Basin Development Authority (CRBDA) Super Cup was special for the Nigeria Police Force, Cross River State Command Football Club. For the first time, the team participated in this important competition, which had a total of 25 teams.
The Police Football Club played with great skill and determination, moving through the group stages. On August 11, 2024, they reached the final against Dream Pillars FC. With a strong performance, the Police team won and took home the championship trophy.
One of the standout players was goalkeeper PC Abdul Peter, from the Ikpai Omin Division. His excellent performance earned him an invitation to join the junior team on probation, a recognition of his talent.
On August 19, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon A. Grimah, welcomed the winning team to his office. He praised them for their hard work and dedication, and the team’s coach, ASP Henry Ekpenyong, presented the trophy to the Commissioner.
This victory not only showed the football skills of the Police team but also boosted the spirits of both the officers and the community. The Command looks forward to more success in future competitions, building on this great achievement.
