Police Arrest Four for Vandalizing Electric Cables and School Property in Cross River



On August 4, 2024, at around 11:35 PM, the Cross River State Police Command arrested David Enere Eton, a 30-year-old man from 38 Egerton Street, Calabar, for vandalism and theft. 



According to a press release from Police Public Relations Officer SP Ugbo Irene, on behalf of Commissioner of Police CP Gyogon A. Grymah, Eton was caught by police officers near the Deputy Governor's Lodge in Calabar while cutting an underground electric cable. 


Eton admitted to using pliers to cut the cable. He has been transferred to the State CID for further investigation and prosecution.


On the same day, at about 5:00 PM, three more suspects were arrested by the Operations Sting team. They were found with twelve pieces of zinc stolen from the Government Secondary School in Akansoko Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area. 


Other recovered items included a hammer, a solar panel, a battery, and a solar bulb, all vandalized from a nearby street. 




The suspects are:

1. Augustine Bornet Edem, male.

2. Elisha David Akpan, male.

3. Akaniyene Daniel Akpan, male.

These three individuals have confessed to their crimes and will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
