Tinubu Officially Swears in Didi Walson-Jack as New Head of Service

President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. The ceremony took place at around 1:00 pm on Monday in the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, just before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting began.

Walson-Jack takes over from Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, who held the position from March 4, 2020, until her retirement on August 12, 2024, a day before she turned 60. The President had approved Walson-Jack’s appointment on July 17, nearly a month before the swearing-in.

During the ceremony, Tinubu acknowledged the significant responsibilities Walson-Jack will inherit, expressing his hope that she will continue to serve with wisdom and integrity. He also praised Dr. Yemi-Esan for her "exceptional tenure," thanking her for her dedication and loyalty to the country during her time in office.

Born in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on August 27, 1966, Walson-Jack holds a law degree from the University of Lagos and was called to the bar in 1987. She has held various significant positions, including Solicitor-General of Bayelsa State and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice in July 2002. She also has experience in the Federal Civil Service, where she was the pioneer State Coordinator of the Rivers State Office in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. Most recently, she served as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education starting in January 2024.

Following the swearing-in, President Tinubu chaired the FEC meeting, which was expected to address several pending issues, including road projects in Kano, Benue, and Abia States.
