Local council elections in Cross River State are around the corner, and many persons, especially the youths are all gearing ready to throw in their interests.
Most of these aspirants have commenced subtle campaigns on various forums, including their personal social media handles.
So far, in ABI LGA where I am from, I have seen over 99% of aspirants who are male and just a few female (just about two of them so far). However, I am not interested in whether a male or a female becomes the next ABI LG chairman. I am more interested in what the next chairman has to offer. His/her capacity. His/her antecedent. What role(s) has he/she held before? How did he/she perform? Any criminal or indicting record?- Because trust me, we shall uproot them all out and stare them at your face.
What are your plans for the Local Government Area? What sustainable development ideas do you have to prosper the people, who are mainly peasants? Deliver your step-by-step approach(es) to create wealth for the people. Enough of this "I will, I will," "Oga, how will you do it?" Tell us practical steps.
Me, Efa Sunday, I am a journalist. Trust me when I say I have enough trickling data as to how much comes to every LG directly from the Federal Government coffers. So you see that money, I and other well-meaning ABIans, WE SHALL FOLLOW THE MONEY. You better get prepared.
Lately, I have been receiving invitations from various camps to come to work with them in this forthcoming election, most of them from people close to me. Some of them even used personal relationships to woo me. But let me use this medium to state my stand clearly that I would not stand for injustice, unfairness and the side of wrong.
ABI Local Government chairman seat has been zoned to Imabana. Imabana has two political wards, Imabana 1 and 2.
This seat was further micro-zoned to Imabana 2 because Imabana 1 has had a taste of it before. This means, that only aspirants from any of these three communities or clans are to aspire for contest, Ikpalegwa, Ebor and Lehangha.
If you no come from any of these three, I know dey do. The last time I joined a group to upturn the already established rotational formula in Cross River State, we hang for mud till today.
But in all, I wish all the aspirants the best of luck in the election. I have many things set out as part of the electioneering process. As time goes by, I will liaise with a few people from the LGA on how to go about it. For now, may the best person win.
