Nigerians Struggling with Inflation, Says Senate President Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has acknowledged that many Nigerians are facing tough economic challenges due to recent reforms by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In his speech on Tuesday, as Senators returned from their annual recess, Akpabio noted that the National Assembly is fully aware of the difficulties citizens are experiencing, including inflation, high living costs, and unpredictable markets.

He expressed sympathy for Nigerians but emphasized that the current economic hardships were not caused by the Tinubu administration. He explained, “Our citizens are dealing with inflation, rising living costs, and market instability. These challenges are a result of the need to fix the economy, not the fault of this government.”

Akpabio reassured Nigerians that the Senate is committed to addressing these issues. “As your representatives, we will respond with the urgency and care that the situation requires,” he said.

While acknowledging the hardships, Akpabio praised President Tinubu for making bold reforms to improve the economy, noting that progress is already being seen in areas like agriculture and infrastructure.

He also addressed the issue of insecurity, stating that the Senate will prioritize the safety of lives and property, ensuring that every citizen can feel secure in the country. “We cannot have development if insecurity persists,” he added.
