Paralympics 2024: Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji Wins Bronze Medal

Eniola Bolaji has become the first African to win a medal in Para-Badminton, earning a bronze medal for Nigeria in the Women’s Singles SL3 category.

On Monday morning, Bolaji defeated her Ukrainian opponent, Oksana Kozyna, in straight sets 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) to win Nigeria’s first Paralympic medal in Paris.

Although Bolaji aimed for gold, she lost in the semi-final on Sunday, falling 2-0 (16-21, 17-21) to China’s Zuxian Xiao. However, she bounced back to win the bronze on Monday.

This victory is a relief for many as Nigeria ends its medal drought after disappointing results at the Olympic Games and the recent World U-20 Athletics Championship.
