Military Kills Terrorist Leader Mai Hijabi and 164 Others in Jigawa



The Defence Headquarters has announced the death of a notorious terrorist leader in Jigawa State, known as Mai Hijabi, during a military operation this week. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist groups in northern Nigeria.


Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, shared this news while updating journalists on military activities. He reported that a total of 165 terrorists were killed, and 238 suspects were arrested during the week.


The troops also rescued 188 kidnapped victims and arrested 35 suspected oil thieves in the Niger Delta. They recovered stolen crude oil, destroyed illegal refining sites, and seized a variety of weapons and ammunition, including 81 AK-47 rifles and 1,561 rounds of ammunition.


Buba emphasized that the military is making significant progress in its fight against terrorism across the country.
