The Yobe State Police Commissioner, Garba Ahmed, has ordered an investigation into an incident where a police inspector, Mohammed Bulama, allegedly stabbed a man to death in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to a statement from the Yobe Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident happened on September 29, 2024, at around 6:20 p.m. Inspector Bulama, 38, reportedly had an argument with Abdulmalik Dauda, 39, over an unresolved transaction in the Zango area. The argument escalated into a fight, during which Bulama allegedly stabbed Dauda in the chest. Bulama also sustained head injuries during the altercation.

After the incident, Bulama was arrested at the 'C' Divisional Police Headquarters, where he sought refuge. He is currently in custody while the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carries out further investigations.

Commissioner Ahmed condemned Bulama’s actions and extended his condolences to the victim’s family. He promised a thorough investigation and assured the public that the officer would face justice.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any misconduct from its personnel. We will ensure that justice is served, and the perpetrator is held accountable,” Ahmed said
