Secretary Blinken and Saudi Foreign Minister Discuss Regional Peace and Humanitarian Aid



As stated by Spokesperson Matthew Miller: 

On October 17, 2024, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a phone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. They discussed the recent death of Yahya Sinwar and emphasized the need for continued efforts to end the conflict and secure the release of hostages.


Secretary Blinken highlighted the importance of ensuring that Hamas no longer remains in power in Gaza and the need for a future where the people of Gaza can rebuild their lives and achieve their goals. They also talked about the urgent humanitarian situation in Lebanon, with Secretary Blinken expressing appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s aid to vulnerable populations there.


The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a peaceful resolution in the region, especially along the Blue Line in Lebanon, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. Secretary Blinken thanked Saudi Arabia for its vital role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
