The U.S. Department of State and espnW have announced the start of the 2024 Global Sports Mentoring Program (GSMP), which brings together American sports executives and women leaders from around the world. The program, now in its 13th year, aims to use the power of sports and mentorship to help women grow professionally and promote equality.
This year, 15 women from countries like Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Zimbabwe will be mentored by professionals from well-known U.S. sports organizations such as ESPN, NFL Films, and New Balance. These mentors will guide the women in developing skills, building networks, and creating action plans to support important issues like youth engagement and access to sports in their home countries.
Since it began, the GSMP has supported 177 women from 74 countries.
