U.S. Secretary of State Blinken to Recognize Anti-Racism Heroes from Bolivia, Ghana, and More

On October 21, 2024, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will speak at a special event to honor the recipients of the Secretary of State’s Award for Global Anti-Racism Champions. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Dean Acheson Auditorium at the U.S. Department of State and will be live-streamed on state.gov and the Department of State’s YouTube channel.


Secretary Blinken will be joined by Desirée Cormier Smith, the Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. The awardees, who are from Bolivia, Ghana, North Macedonia, Mexico, Nepal, and the Netherlands, are being recognized for their courage and leadership in fighting systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia. These individuals have worked to protect the human rights of marginalized racial, ethnic, and Indigenous communities in their respective countries.


Media representatives can attend the event by presenting proper identification, including U.S. Government-issued IDs or media credentials. The event promises to highlight the ongoing global efforts to combat racism and promote equity for all.
