Jessica Stern, the U.S. Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons, will travel to Cape Town, South Africa, from November 8 to 15 to join several major events focused on LGBTQI+ rights.
On November 8, Special Envoy Stern will lead a meeting of the Global Equality Fund, a coalition of governments, businesses, and foundations. This group supports programs that assist LGBTQI+ human rights defenders and grassroots organizations worldwide.
From November 9 to 11, Stern will attend the Global LGBTI Funding Summit, hosted by the Global Philanthropy Project. Here, she will meet with over 200 funders from around the world, discussing support for LGBTQI+ equality and development.
From November 11 to 15, she will participate in the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) World Conference. This global event, which includes representatives from more than 1,900 organizations across 160 countries, will gather over 1,000 LGBTQI+ human rights advocates. Together, they will discuss strategies to protect and advance LGBTQI+ rights worldwide.
