A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Michael Abang Obi, barely escaped death when his car exploded in Ogoja Local Government Area, Cross River State.
Rev. Obi is the Administrator of St. Joseph de Worker Parish, Bansara, and also serves as the Vicar for Priests in the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve. It happened after Rev. Obi stopped to give directions to a Reverend Sister and her group.
Sharing his experience, Rev. Obi explained that he had just gotten into the car and was about to drive off when the explosion occurred.
“I had attended a wedding at a nearby parish and returned to my parish afterward. When I arrived, I saw a Reverend Sister and her group gathering firewood in the school compound. I stopped to guide them on where to find better firewood. After getting back into my car and preparing to drive off, the car suddenly exploded. Thankfully, the door was open, and I was able to escape. I am safe. Thank God,” he said.
