Breaking: Security Operatives Find Kidnapped Anambra Lawmaker Dead

The dead body of Justice Azuka, a lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has been found near the Second Niger Bridge by security officers.

Azuka was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, while heading home for Christmas along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Onitsha. The attackers took him at gunpoint in a quick operation that lasted less than five minutes.

The Anambra State Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed on Thursday that a joint security team found his decomposing body during a routine patrol.

Ikenga said, “Early this morning, February 6, 2025, a joint security team, including the police and local security operatives, found Hon. Azuka’s lifeless body near the Second Niger Bridge while searching for him.”

He added that investigations are ongoing, and security forces are working to arrest those responsible.

Azuka, a member of the Labour Party, regained his seat in the House of Assembly after a court overturned the victory of Douglas Egbuna from the Peoples Democratic Party, who was originally declared the winner of the 2023 election.
