Three Arrested with Human Skull in Imo

Three young men have been arrested in Ogii, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State for possessing a human skull.

The identity of the person whose skull was found has not yet been determined.

The suspects, Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20), were arrested after residents of Ogii tipped off the police.

The Imo State Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, said the arrests took place on Monday in the Ogii community.

One of the suspects, Okoere, claimed his uncle asked him to bring a human skull for a land dispute case.

According to the police statement, "As part of efforts to fight crime in Imo State, police officers from the Okigwe Divisional Headquarters, with help from Ogii community members, arrested three suspects on February 3, 2025, with a human skull, a native hen, and white garments along the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway."

The three suspects — Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20) — are now under investigation. Patrick said his uncle, Osunta Oko, asked him to get a human skull. He said he found it near a river on the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway, an area known for kidnappings.

The police are now looking for Osunta Oko and other possible accomplices. A DNA test is also being done to identify the owner of the skull.

The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, assured the public that the police are committed to keeping residents safe and that justice will be served. He also promised that the suspects would be prosecuted once the investigation is complete.

Okoye added that the public will be informed about updates on the case as the investigation continues.
