In light of ongoing saga in Nigeria's Senate involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Oduaghan, Princewill Chimezie Richards, a former detainee from the Bakassi Peninsula and founder of the Biafra National League, has issued a resounding warning against any threats to the Senate President.

Richards's comments come amid escalating tensions surrounding Akpabio's leadership and the recent suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central district, has filed a complaint with the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) following her six-month suspension by the Senate last week.

This suspension was enforced after she declined to testify before the Senate Committee on Ethics and Discipline regarding allegations she made against Akpabio.

In a statement made available to the press on Friday, Richards asserted, “I know that Akpabio will not escape the consequences of his actions towards Senator Ali Ndume.” He described Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions as part of a broader "setup.”

He further cautioned, “My supporters are ready — if Akpabio is harmed in any way, we will strike back from Bakassi Peninsula.”

Amid ongoing protests both for and against Akpabio, Richards suggested there are hidden influences at play. "It's not just about attending Senate sessions dressed in Babariga; the South can never fully satisfy the North," he remarked.

Richards also commented on the situation surrounding Simon Ekpa, an ex-militant leader currently facing legal issues. “Since his arrest, I have chosen to remain silent," he said, stating that, "Murders in Imo State continue to occur, but the media’s silence has created an illusion of peace"

“Finland will never send Simon Ekpa back to Nigeria,” he added, predicting his probable release by May.

The political landscape remains fraught as tensions rise, prompting calls for further investigations and accountability.
