Insights and Reflections
The concept of faith is profound and cannot be understood without referencing the life of Rahab. Her story is a strong witness to how faith can alter the future of someone. Despite her previous life as a prostitute, her defense of the Israelite spies demonstrated an unshakeable belief in God's power. This demonstration of her belief later changed her standing from that of an outcast to that of a lady whose name is honored in the Bible's history books. Her history guarantees us that no part of human existence is beyond God's redemptive power and restoration.
Every human being on earth is born for a purpose. It is vital to understand and embrace this God-given mandate and be conscious of the temporal life that we are living. Living with such consciousness compels us to live according to the plan of God so that we may seek the purpose for which we were created. Knowing our life on this earth is temporary should motivate us to live meaningful lives and according to the will of God.
We as believers are to build the bravery to be odd and be distinct in the world. The expectations of the world are not supposed to define our faith but rather be built in God's word. Rahab's life illustrates this to a tee—though the world judged her by what she had done in the past, God termed her righteous based on her faith. This encourages us that faith can redefine our identity and move us from condemnation to grace.
Secondly, as Christians, we ought to be profoundly concerned about our family members' spiritual welfare. Our heart should not only be our personal salvation, but we should pray for our family members, so that they too, may walk in God's ways. Our family members' heaven or hell destiny should mean a lot to us because it is in their relationship with Christ and faith.
