U.S. and UK Officials Discuss Potential Trade Agreement

March 19, 2025 | Washington, D.C. – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer met with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds and Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Special Adviser on Business and Investment Varun Chandra to discuss a potential bilateral trade agreement.

The meeting follows last month’s discussions between President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Starmer, as both nations explore opportunities to strengthen economic ties.

During the talks, Secretary Lutnick emphasized the Trump Administration’s goal of reducing trade barriers for American businesses while fostering job creation in both countries. He also highlighted the importance of supporting key industries to drive economic growth.

Officials from both sides agreed to continue working on the potential trade deal in the coming weeks, with further discussions expected as negotiations progress.
